Visiting Paris? We have a well-equipped and very comfortable studio apartment, ideally located in Paris's sought-after 7th arrondissement, between the Eiffel Tower and Les Invalides. It's available for seasonal or vacation rental for one week or more, direct from the owners.

It's an easy walk to many monuments and sights, including the Eiffel Tower, the Seine, and the Rodin Museum.  The Champs Elysées is a leisurely 15-20 minutes by foot - past Les Invalides, over the pont Alexandre III, and along Avenue Winston Churchill between the Grand Palais and the Petit Palais.

Nearby metro stations are Ecole Militaire and La Tour-Maubourg.

Guides and resources

• It's easy - and surprisingly inexpensive - to offset the carbon emissions from your flights. Some airlines offer carbon offsets directly. If not, we recommend ClimateCare, which has sites for the USA, the UK, and Australia.

• Pari-Roller.com - the organization that coordinates the famous Friday night roller-blade skates through central Paris. Police stop the traffic so that the avenues and boulevards are clear to be shared amongst several thousand skaters. It's something to see even if you don't skate.

Some notable events of 2009

• January 27 - April 14, 2009: The Bibliothèque Forney presents an exhibition of color photographs dating from 1876-1914.
• March 13-18, 2009: the annual Salon du Livre attracts writers and readers from all over the world.
• May 24 - June 7, 2009: the French Open tennis tournament is held at the Roland Garros stadium 
• July 14, 2009: Bastille day celebrations with a big parade on the Champs-Elysées on the 14th, and fireworks and concert for a half-million or so good friends at the Eiffel Tower that evening. (In the rest of France, fireworks are usually on the 13th).
• July 26, 2008: the Tour de France finishes with the last stage of the race on the Champs Elysées.
• July & August 2009: Paris Plage - the banks of the Seine are converted into a temporary beach, for the benefit of Parisians who can't get to the coast this summer.
• 19-22, November 2009: Salon Paris Photo, Carrousel du Louvre.
• Late December 2009 until late February 2010: Open-air ice skating rink in front of the Hôtel de Ville, and another at Monparnasse. In recent years there has been a third rink on the Eiffel Tower itself. Skate rental is €5, and access to the rinks is free.

From our morning "cafe and croissant" to the end of a day we were charmed again and again. (You do need to be up early to get those croissants!) And choclate mousse in Paris? It's unbelievable! Having rue Cler right down the street couldn't be more perfect. Your location is right in the middle of a very special part of Paris. "
